National Junior Honor Society -
Grace M. Breckwedel Chapter
The Grace M. Breckwedel Middle School is a participating member of the NJHS.
This organization is part of the Nation Honor Society, the oldest and most
respected organization for recognizing the academic accomplishments of young
scholars in America. We have been associated with the NJHS since 1998.
Any student in the seventh and eighth grade of the GMB School who meets the
challenging academic standards set forth by the organization's Charter,
is eligible for selection.
Who is eligible for admission:
- Any seventh grade student with an average of 95 or higher in their Core subjects
over the first two marking periods of their seventh grade academic year
is eligible for admission.
- Any eighth grade student with an average of 92.5 or higher in their Core
subjects through the second marking period of their eighth grade year is
eligible for admission.
The Selection Process
- Any eligible student can apply for membership.
- Candidates must complete a formal application.
- Candidates must submit a letter of recommendation.
- Candidates must have demonstrated leadership, service, and character.
- All eligible candidates will be screened by a Faculty Committee that
assesses their application and letter of reference before making the decision
to accept or reject their application.
- Students will be inducted in the spring of the year.
The advisor for the National Junior Honor Society is Mrs. Mary Ellen Claps,
Computer Technology teacher.
